Environmental Protection
Man
has always wanted to make his life easier. He invented machines and mechanisms
which have been working and polluting the world we live in. Economists have
thought of the environment as of the unlimited source of resources only. In
fact, the economy and the environment are closely related. The environment
supplies the economy with water, timber and oil. It has to absorb all the waste products, too.
Nowadays everyone realizes that there are a lot of
consequences of damaging the environment such as acid rains, water shortage,
damage to soils as well as damage to wildlife. Among the most serious problems
caused by pollution are the greenhouse effect and global warming.
It goes without saying, we must protect the
environment. If we cannot reduce the pollution, very soon we`ll have no world
to live in. One idea might be to use public transport and cut down on exhaust
fumes. Then we might make factories put filters into their chimneys so that
they don’t pollute the air as much. Also, it is very important to protect the
countryside because it is home to a lot of wildlife. Let’s not forget that we
get a lot of fresh food from farms in the countryside. People can save energy
by switching off lights when they leave a room. We can also recycle as much as
possible and not waste water. Governments need to pass more laws to reduce
pollution and protect the environment. A good idea would be to run awareness
campaigns so that everyone can learn how to help. Young people are very
concerned about environmental issues because they will have to deal with all
the problems in the future.
The most important thing we could do is to change our
attitude to the environment. We should understand that natural resources are
not unlimited and destroying them might result in destroying life in the Earth.
